We believe learning should go beyond the walls of the classroom.
Tennessee Nature Academy believes that effective learning takes place when students solve authentic problems through mastering and applying disciplinary knowledge and skills. Project-based learning helps students grow confident in their abilities to think critically, design creatively, and work collaboratively. Our students approach new academic challenges with a sense of adventure.
Learning at Tennessee Nature Academy takes place within and beyond traditional classroom spaces, as students build and apply literacy and mathematics skills in real-world settings. Our emphasis on nature-based play and learning serves the dual purpose of encouraging healthy lifestyles while giving students the opportunity to be curious and explore.
Everything is connected. Our project-based approach allows students to explore connections between subjects and apply their learning beyond the walls of the classroom.
Young people want to be challenged in a safe environment. Our units address real-world and culturally-relevant scenarios that challenge students to produce good work.
Rooted in Nature
Students learn in traditional classrooms as well as in outdoor settings. Whenever possible, student learning is applied to the outdoors.
